I wear a smile, bright and wide,
To hide the storm I keep inside.
The world sees laughter, soft and sweet,
But never hears my heart’s retreat.
Behind these eyes, the silence cries,
Echoes of pain the light denies.
I speak in jokes, I dance, I sing,
Yet grief still clings a ghostly wing.
Each tear I shed is veiled by grace,
A painted joy upon my face.
They think I’m strong, they call me kind,
But they don’t see what haunts my mind.
If only someone looked more deep,
Past the mask my soul must keep,
They’d find a heart both torn and true,
Still hoping love will see it through.
Until that day, I’ll play my part
Perhaps the masks are what we need,
To guard the wounds that softly bleed.
For every soul must learn to cope,
With pain disguised, yet fed by hope🌏💫❤️😊
